SERVING FAMILY & COMMUNITY
Syed was born and raised in Chicago and its suburbs (Skokie, Schaumburg, Streamwood, and Arlington Heights), and also lived in Indianapolis. Fifteen years ago, when returning to the area, he and his wife, Asma, chose Dupage County to raise their family because of its values: strong public schools, premiere location, diverse amenities, and vibrant neighborhoods. Giving back to their community is core to Syed, his wife and three children.
Syed is focused on improving the lives of people in our community. For instance:
-
Syed is a member of the Milton Township’s Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT)
-
He has received citizen safety and awareness training from the Wheaton Police & Fire Departments
-
Syed sits on Wheaton's Historic Commission, dedicated to awareness and appreciation of Wheaton’s history and heritage.
-
He has also served on numerous nonprofit boards, helping to ensure financial health and making high-level decisions to maintain the organizations’ viability.
In addition, Syed’s wife, Asma, serves on Wheaton's Commission on Aging, volunteers with local non-profits, and helps a nearby school.
Syed and Asma’s passion for service has inspired the children to give back to the community through their own unique academic and volunteer pursuits. From Eagle Scout to the city's Citizen’s Award to teaching youth karate, the Hussain children are making their parents proud. They attended Glenbard public schools, with the oldest completing his Associates from College of DuPage, and continuing in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The family enjoys serving together at local mosques and events, with Glen Ellyn's Sudanese American Charity, the regional Chi-Care (feeding the unhoused) umbrella organization, supports Wheaton Drama, and cherishes local arts and attending live events.
Syed Hussain chose to raise a family, work, and volunteer in DuPage County. His diverse experience in the community gives him tremendous insight into the value of living in this county and the challenges facing it. As the District 4 DuPage County Board member, he will focus on improving the lives of residents and the quality of life here.
